Project Planning Process.

DigitalThinker uses the Structured Agile (Hybrid) Project Management Methodology. This is a combination of Waterfall for initial requirements gathering and agile for project execution. It is critical to invest time upfront in the project lifecycle to identify a vision of the final product, understand existing assets and infrastructure, and develop an overall plan.

From years of successful projects with Hexagon EAM, we have created a methodology framework to help guide you through your implementation. We tie your Hexagon EAM system to your operating strategy which generates true ROI. Execution of the plan is typically performed in week long sprints, with status and progress checkpoints at the conclusion of each sprint.

Hexagon EAM Implementations

Our proven EAM Implementation plan is split into 4 phases

To determine the scope of the EAM project a core team is assembled and scheduled to attend a one-week hands on training class that focuses on the capabilities and limitations of Hexagon EAM. The application has a broad range of functionality that compliments and extends the use of EAM. Therefore, it is commonly said that EAM is an application that users grow into rather than out of. During core team training we determine work flows.

​Formally this is called business process review, and some businesses processes are so complex that an additional meeting is required to document all the processes. Most often we can identify and document work flows during core team training.

Following core team training and the planning stage of the project we are ready to produce the planned deliverables. The outcome is a configuration document and work flow diagrams for specific processes.

​Additionally, we apply the configuration, migrate data and develop inboxes, KPIs, Charts and Advanced Reports in a Test or Training environment.

Once the Test or Training environment is deliverable, we perform user acceptance testing. User acceptance testing is scripted so that any findings that require modification can be thoroughly investigated. Once modifications are made, end user training can be performed.

The configuration from the Training environment is moved over to the production environment and go-live can occur. During go-live user training is reinforced and results are evaluated. As the project settles an after-action review is performed to determine effectiveness of project.

Business Process Review

The business process review is used to determine the EAM configuration as far as user groups, menus, screen permissions, job type authorizations and status authorizations.

Configure / Develop / Implement

Week 4

EAM Configuration of Training Environment

Set installation parameters, build user groups, setup system codes, build inboxes, KPIs and Charts.

Data Migration and Preparation for loading

Extract data from source and map to EAM tables and columns for upload into EAM.

Finalize Data to load in Training (TRN) Environment

Load data into Training Environment

Data uploaded into EAM via Hexagon provided Upload/Import Utility Tool.

User Acceptance Testing

Week 6

Pilot testing of EAM functions in Training Environment

Login to EAM as a user in each user group and perform functions to ensure configuration is adequate and user friendly.

Week 7

Modify Configuration of Training Environment

Adjust the configuration to maximize user friendliness.
Task #9
Copy Training Environment into Production Environment

After modifications are made to Training, a copy is obtained and applied to the Production Environment.

Week 8

Task #10
EAM Configuration of Production Environment

Configure the Production Environment via the EAM Configuration Manager.
Task #11
Load Data into Production Environment

Data uploaded into EAM via Hexagon provided Upload Utility Tool.
Task #12

All Users, Day-to-day Users (training is role-based), Mobile Users, and Users who will administer Hexagon EAM system.
